Overall view of risks

Risk assessment gives an overall view of risks arising from dangers at the workplace.

Danger refers to a possible health hazard. Risk refers to the probability of a dangerous event (the frequency of a danger) combined with the severity of the consequences.

Risk assessment is one aspect of risk management, and it is shown as a graph.

The graph shows how risk management is a process that starts with planning an assessment and continues by conducting the assessment and implementing remedial measures. In time, monitoring and feedback lead to the start of a new cycle.

Risk management and fostering occupational well-being become part of normal activities and quality systems. Thus, they all have a positive impact on shipping companies’ performance.
