Putting risks in order of importance
The significance of risks is jointly determined
Determining risk levels, i.e. the severity of consequences and the likelihood of a risk, leads to assessing the significance of different risks. This stage is also known as the assessment of risk acceptability and putting risks into order of importance.
Owing to their nature, the prevention of some risks is already prescribed by labour protection legislation, and there is no need for a particular decision.
However, most risks require a decision on their significance. A good practice is to make decisions in cooperation with the workforce, which constitutes a good basis for prioritising and timing remedial measures.
A risk assessment and its results should be recorded carefully. This in turn facilitates monitoring and provides a foundation for future risk assessments.
