What is occupational well-being?
Occupational well-being means the physical and emotional ability to cope at work.
Physical occupational well-being involves ergonomics as well as environmental factors such as exposure to noise, light and chemicals. Emotional well-being concerns satisfaction with life and work, a general feeling of well-being.
A healthy workforce is happy at work and it brings success and profitable results for the employer. The rate of sick leave declines and the pressure to retire prematurely diminishes.
Occupational well-being concerns everyone
Occupational well-being is a common concern for all parties at the workplace. The successful promotion of occupational well-being calls for smooth cooperation between a shipping company, seafarers, labour protection and occupational health care where each carries its own responsibilities and plays its own role. Goals are jointly agreed so that they can be achieved.
