Old-age pension
You can retire on your old-age pension from the ages of 63 to 68 if you are not entitled to the reduced, or earned, retirement age. Click here to read more about retirement age.
You can take early retirement, but this reduces the amount of pension. Click here to read more about early old-age pension.
You can also defer retiring on your old-age pension until you are more than 68 years of age. Pension accrual ends at the end of the month in which you reach 68 years. If your old-age pension starts later than the age of 68 years, your pension is adjusted at a rate of 0.4% for each month for which retirement is deferred.
You can be on an old-age pension and work at the same time. You accrue new old-age pension from gainful employment. The new pension that accrues from gainful employment while drawing an old-age pension starts at the age of 68.
