Applying for part-time pension 

You need to agree with your employer on part-time work before you apply for the pension. You should submit an application for part-time pension only after you have agreed with your employer about transferring to part-time work. When awarding the pension, we ask your employer whether you meet the criteria for being awarded a part-time pension. The employer’s explanation must state whether your part-time employment contract is for a fixed term or in force until further notice and by how much your working hours have been reduced compared with your full-time employment. The explanation must also include an estimate concerning the salary for your part-time work, which will be used to calculate the amount of your part-time pension.

You should submit your part-time pension application about 2 months before starting part-time work.

You can fill in and print out the pension application form (pdf, available in Finnish) and send it to the Seafarer’s Pension Fund.
