Reaching retirement age for the old-age pension

You do not need to apply separately for an old-age pension if you already receive disability or unemployment pension. When you reach retirement age for the old-age pension, your pension is automatically converted into an old-age pension.

When you reach retirement age, the full disability pension is converted into an old-age pension at the same amount if you have not been employed while drawing a pension after 1 January 2005. At the same time, all regulations concerning the old-age pension come into force. The greatest change is that thereafter, in addition to your pension, you can earn as much as you want without it affecting your pension.

If you receive partial disability pension before you reach retirement age, your pension amount doubles from the start of the old-age pension.

At retirement age, the pension for projected pensionable service is added to unemployment pension without separate application. If you are not entitled to a pension component for projected pensionable service or the pension component for projected pensionable service is already added to your unemployment pension, the pension amount does not change at retirement age.

Part-time pension differs from other types of pension in that you must apply for old-age pension and stop part-time work. In this instance, part-time pension discontinues and old-age pension starts. Old-age pension amounts to more than part-time pension.
