General and earned retirement age for crews
If you are a crew member, your general retirement age is 63-68 years of age.
Your earned or lower retirement age is 55-63 years of age. The earliest possible age that a crew member can retire is 55, which requires 420 months, or 35 years of service at sea. A crew member’s earned retirement age is calculated to the exact month in the same way as the retirement age for a ship’s officer, i.e. by subtracting from the age of 63 years the months of service at sea that exceed 324 months.
Example of the retirement age for a crew member
Marja Myrskynen, with 416 months of service at sea, will receive her pension at the age of 55 years and 4 months.
