Pension security and data protection
The Seafarers’ Pension Fund provides pension security in accordance with the Seamen’s Pension Act. As executor of this statutory task, we process the personal data of all the insured and pension and benefit recipients

- safely.
We collect personal data, as is necessary for pension management, from shipping companies, the insured, pension applicants and recipients and the authorities.
Sensitive information, such as health information, is only processed to the extent prescribed by legislation.
When processing personal data, we comply with data protection and pension legislation as well as the generally accepted rules governing the pension insurance industry, and we are committed to this compliance.
Leasing activities and data protection
As part of its investment activities, the Seafarers’ Pension Fund leases rental flats and commercial properties. For the purpose of these activities, we collect personal data concerning rental applicants and tenants to the extent prescribed in the data protection and rescue legislation. We also check the credit records of applicants.
Data security is important
As part of its statement regarding data security, the management of the Pension Fund has approved a data security and data protection policy that specifies the related objectives, responsibilities and implementation methods for the Pension Fund. The policy is our way to demonstrate that we pay special attention to the implementation, maintenance and continued development of proper data security and protection.
