Flexible partial old-age pension

The minimum age for receiving the partial early old-age pension is defined as follows:

  • for persons born in 1963 and before the minimum age is 61 years;
  • for persons born in 1964 the minimum age is 62 years; 
  • for persons born in 1965 and after the minimum age will be linked to the change in life expectancy.

The partial early old-age pension shall be 25 or 50 % of the pension that you have accrued until the time of the pension contingency.

This pension shall be adjusted with a reduction for early retirement, the size of which shall be 0.4 %  for each month that the pension is paid before the applicant reaches the earliest eligibility age for old-age retirement.

The requirement of working part-time shall be abolished, and earned wages and number of working hours shall not be monitored. You can decide whether you wish to stop working, continue working full-time or reduce working hours.

  • Amount of partial old-age pension
    You decide how large a pension you wish to withdraw. There are two options: 50 per cent or 25 per cent. This 50 or 25 per cent is calculated from the pension that you have accrued be the end of the year preceding your retirement.
    The 25 or 50 per cent of the pension that is withdrawn will permanently be reduced through the reduction for early retirement, if the pension begin before you reach your lower old-age pension age.
    The partial old-age pension will be reduced by 0,4 % per month for every month preceding the lower old-age pension age.
    The partial old-age pension amount will also be reduced by the impact of the life expectancy coefficient.

  • Partial old-age after reaching your retirement age
    An increase for deferred retirement will be calculated on your partial old-age pension if you apply for the partial old-age after the lower retirement age. The increase for deferred retirement is 0,4 % for each deferred month.
  • How is it possible to change an already granted partial old-age pension?
    If you start by withdrawing 25 per cent of your pension, you can later on raise it to 50 per cent. However, you cannot start by withdrawing 50 per cent of your pension and then reduce it to 25 per cent. 

  • Three months of the right to cancel partial old-age pension
    If you have second thoughts, you can cancel your pension even after having received a partial old-age pension decision from us. In that case, cancel your pension in writing within three months of the decision. If you cancel your pension, you will have to pay back the pension that has already been paid to you.

  • I have worked while receiving flexible partial old-agepension. Does the payment of the additional accrual begin automatically?
    You can apply for the payment of pension funds accrued from work done alongside partial early old-age pension once you reach your minimum retirement age and the work has ended. 

  • Working while on a pension – Is there a specific income amount?

    You can work as much as you like alongside your old-age pension and partial old-age pension, without it affecting the gross pension that you are receiving.     If you work while on a pension, you need two tax cards, one for your pension income and one for your earned income.
