Finland's pension system governance once again ranked the most reliable in the world
Finland once again received the highest score for pension system integrity in the international Marsh CFA Institute Global Pension Index. Finland ranked ninth overall.
Finland's overall score increased slightly compared to the previous year, but its ranking dropped by one place as several other countries improved their scores more than Finland.
The Marsh pension index assesses pension systems based on adequacy, sustainability and integrity. Finland has long received the highest score for integrity, which is assessed based on factors such as transparency, regulation, operational effectiveness and reasonable administrative costs.
Finland's particular strengths include its governance and risk management requirements and the protection of pension rights in cases of fraud and insolvency.
Nordic countries performed well in the comparison
The Netherlands topped the overall ranking. The Nordic countries also performed well: Denmark and Iceland ranked among the leading countries, while Sweden and Norway, alongside Finland, received strong assessments for the sustainability of their pension systems.
The 2026 index covered 55 countries. The index has been published annually since 2009.
